I have carved several of these images.

The image is of the Mother of God, with Christ on her lap. He is surrounded by the heavens.

Saint Joseph the Hesychast 1898 - 1959. He was a monk and elder on Mount Athos. This icon is carved in yellow cedar. It is 7” x 9.5” and finished with exterior varnish as it is going to be mounted outside on St. Nilas Island in Alaska. “Without winter there would be no spring, and without spring there would be no summer. So it is also in the spiritual life; a little consolation, and then a little grief and thus little by little we work out our salvation. Let us accept everything from the hand of God.”

The dark crosses are carved from Yew wood, the lighter one is carved in Yellow Cedar with a clear varnish. These crosses can be used as liturgical blessing crosses, or wall hanging cross in a house. Some of them are double sided, with the Jesus Prayer, or carving of Christ being baptized by St. John in the Jordan. They are about 12” tall.

These crosses can be used as liturgical crosses, or for in a home or office. The light coloured one is carved in Yellow Cedar, and is 12” high. The darker one is Yew wood. The cross stands in it’s base, or slides out to be used for blessing.

This icon is carved in Black Walnut. It is about 11” tall.

There are pictures of 2 gospel covers I have done. One is bound in a dark red velvet. The other in red buckram. The carvings are done in yellow cedar. The covers are simple, yet beautiful.

This is an icon of Christ based on an icon painted by my spiritual father.

Christ is teaching us to love one another. There are 2 icons in this set, on of Christ, and one of the Mother of God. Usually these icons are placed side by side.

They are 6.5” x 9.5”, carved in yellow cedar.

This diptych is carved in Yellow cedar, and trimmed in walnut. The hinges are brass, and there is a magnetic clasp hidden in the wood. Each panel is 2.5” x 3.5”.

This icon is 7” x 11” and is carved in linden.

These pectoral crosses are carved in Yellow Cedar and Yew wood. 4.5” tall. Finished in clear varnish or with an amber shellac. They can also be made without the necklace.

Saint Herman was born in Russia in 1751. He sailed to Alaska to be a missionary to the native people. He was well loved and performed many miracles as he worshiped God and cared for the people. I spent a month on Spruce Island Alaska where St. Herman lived, and brought back a piece of sitka spruce from the site of the monastery chapel to carve an icon of St. Herman.

Icon of the Last Supper. Carved in Yellow Cedar, 12” x 12”

Christ is pulling Adam and Eve from the tombs, breaking down the gates of hell, and vanquishing death. This is the icon of the resurrection, also called the descent into Hades, or the harrowing of hell.

Carved in Yellow Cedar, with Red Cedar trim. 10” tall x 8” wide. Also carved in linden in some photos.

This pair is carved in Yellow Cedar. !2” tall x 9” wide.

This is a large carving (about 18” tall by 12” wide) carved in thick yellow cedar. It is for outside in the church garden at St. Peter the Aleut Orthodox Church in Calgary.

This oval icon of the Theotokos is 11” tall, and carved in linden with a clear lacquer then paste wax.

An icon of the Archangel Michael. Carved in yellow cedar, 5” x 7”. The Archangel Michael is the leader of heavenly hosts. He strengthened the saints and martyrs and enabled them to endure patiently until they finished their trials. His hebrew name means “who is like God” and he is commemorated on November 8th.

Carved in Yellow Cedar. 4” tall. Generally worn by a Bishop.

This is an icon carved for the new sign at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Saskatoon. The height is 30” and base is 54”. It is carved in 2” thick Yellow Cedar. It was mounted in the sign at Pascha this spring. The sign and surrounding landscaping were done by Jerome.

This icon is 4” x 6”, and is carved in linden.

This is our driveway sign for our farm. It is mounted in an old steel wagon tire found here. The diameter is 4 feet. The sign has been up for 5 years now and is weathering beautifully.

This driveway sign is banded by an old steel wagon tire found on our farm. The wood is old growth fir salvaged from an old beam. The diameter is 4 feet. It is finished with black and white paint, thinned to soak in and show some of the grain. It is mounted to a weathered snag.

This is a walking stick carved for a dear friend. The wood is an olive branch I pruned from her tree, then carried around for several years, before carving.

This icon was designed as a grave cross. It is carved here as a size that could be put in a church or home to commemorate someone specific, or generally remind us that Christ has vanquished death. Carved in Yellow Cedar, the icon is 24” high x 9” wide.
